You know how much we love supporting everything local and our next project is to find a couple of local lads who are interested in modelling for us. We already have one local fella who you might recognise in some of our photos, but we want some more faces to help showcase some of the great gear we have on sale. We're going to be redeveloping our web store over the coming months and we want to hear from people who are genuinely interested in getting involved. There isn't really a criteria that you need to fit into, so to answer the questions we have already had: Age isn't important, our store caters for men of all ages. Body type/size is not important, we stock sizes from XS to 3XL. What is important is that our website reflects our customer base. You don't have to have a permanent sun tan, 6 pack abs and a waxed chest. Honestly, it really doesn't matter. What's in it for you? Well, as a relatively new business we can't offer anything financial in return. However, we can give you some free clothes and some hefty discounts when you shop in our store. Plus you can have digital copies of all photographs used. You'll also have our eternal thanks and man hugs. What do I do next? Drop us an email. We were really pleased to be asked to get involved in a great project to help young people get a head start in business recently. The Creative Enterprises students from Burnside Business and Enterprise College visited our store and were introduced to our very own Maz who talked to them about marketing and promotion, plus what we are planning on doing to drive the business forward over the coming months. The students then started working on some 'what if' scenarios and used Hamiedog in a brilliant mock up featuring a music/fashion event that could be held locally. We were really impressed with their ideas and how interested they were in learning about the daily challenges linked with running a small independent fashion store like ours. Working with the local community like this is very important, especially to students who may well become the shop owners of the future. We wish them all the best of luck in their future plans and we hope to see them again soon - who knows, one day we might be neighbours! North-east newspaper the News Guardian has published an article on how our store is helping to support local clothing designers get their work noticed. Since January we've been proud to support the talent of the local area and now have 3 brilliant designers showcasing their work in our Whitley Bay store and on our website. TriXta, Low Quay and Longsands have had their collections very well received and we have another brand coming very soon to join them - details on the way shortly! Shopping and supporting local is very important to us. Setting up a business is a big challenge and by providing a high street outlet for talent like this means that our store becomes a hub for celebrating everything which is great about where we live. As you may have read from previous news entries, we love supporting local talent and we're really pleased to have added another brand into our growing collection. The Low Quay label is one of the new kids on the block and headed up by David Neal who gets his inspiration from the fishing town of North Shields and so his designs have a nice nautical feel to them which we love. Subtle but bold at the same time, the Low Quay collection has already been popular with our shoppers and we're looking forward to seeing some more of you out and about wearing these t-shirts now that the warm weather is finally here. We know that the seaside town of Whitley Bay is probably not at the very top of your list for doing a spot of shopping on a Saturday afternoon. You've probably not visited for several years, but there are many reasons for making the trip. We're here. And that's reason enough. We can help north-east blokes look good, without needing to flash the designer label or pay the designer price. Our collection looks good, it doesn't appear to be cheap and some of our pieces can't be found anywhere else on the high street. We're about to start working with a couple of local designers which we're really excited about. Plus you don't have to be a 20-something to wear our range, our gear is aimed at the 20-50 age range and fashion is all about you: if you like it, wear it! It's no secret that work in Whitley Bay to regenerate the sea front is taking an absolute age, but it is still happening albeit at a slow pace. However in our street alone (Park View) there are plenty of new retailers opening up, especially coffee shops and places to eat plus we even have a couple of micro breweries in the town centre too.
